What is The Opposition, and how do I use it in a pawn endgame? How do I checkmate my opponent with just a Rook and a King vs. a King? How about a Queen vs. a pawn on the 7th rank? If you are a beginner tournament player and would like to learn the basics of chess endgames, this BCC Mini Clinic Series is for you. Each class will last one hour (6:15-7:15pm), and admission is FREE! All classes will be taught by a team of High School volunteers – strong Expert-level players (USCF rating 2000+) with years of chess teaching experience. The typical format will be an interactive teaching session, followed by hands-on practices and games. After the mini clinic, students can stay for the Friday evening blitz tournament. If there is enough interest, a non-rated section will be added to the blitz tournament. Admission to the non-rated section will be discounted to $10 for all clinic attendees. Sections with fewer than six players may be merged.

In accordance with BCF policy, unrated players may play in any section. Rated players rated within 200 points of the lower section maximum may play up one section.
